    Pengertian Proof of Work Proof of work  atau PoW adalah sebuah sistem yang memiliki tujuan utama untuk mencegah adanya serangan siber. Misalnya, seperti mengirim email berbahaya, spam, atau seperti serangan distributed denial of service (DDoS), Serangan siber dapat menghabiskan sumber daya sistem komputer hanya dengan mengirimkan beberapa permintaan palsu.  Konsep PoW ini sudah hadir terlebih dahulu sebelum Bitcoin ada. Ide PoW dahulunya dipublikasinya oleh Cynthia Dwork dan Moni Naor pada tahun 1993.
